Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH)
Your BAH will be used in one of two ways. You can either rent on post or you can live off post. If you live off post, you can either rent or buy. Click Here for current BAH rates.

Tripler Army Medical Center operates the U.S. Army Health Clinic at Schofield Barracks. The center serves over 35,000 soldiers and has a major training center and fellowship programs. Tripler Army Medical Center is the largest military treatment facility in the Pacific area. The Schofield Barracks Dental Clinic provides routine dental care to all active duty Army Soldiers who are assigned to Schofield Barracks or assigned to Tripler Army Medical Center. The medical center has a distinctive pink color and can be seen from many points in the Honolulu district. Schofield Barracks has no on-post schools available. Children who live on base will attend school based on the temporary lodging facility where they are residing. Once permanent housing is found, students may transfer schools based on the new residence. For more specific information regarding school districts, contact the Hawaii Department of Education, Central District Office at 808-627-7478. Special needs education is handled by the Army Community Service office at 808-655-4777. Bus service is subsidized by the State and available to students who live more than one mile from the school. The Child Development Center at Schofield Barracks provides full day daycare, part-day daycare, and hourly services for children from 6 weeks to 5 years. There are five child development centers on post, and many school age programs are offered at each. Housing at Schofield Barracks consists of over 7000 housing units, and military personnel are asked to check in at the Housing Referral Office for available housing options. Depending on the time of year, rank of the soldier and number of bedrooms desired, the waiting list could be as long as 14 months. The Housing Referral Office can also help those seeking to live off-post with determining applicable BAH rates for each soldier’s situation. The cost of living in Hawaii tends to run higher than other U.S. states, and the housing office can provide assistance with specifics. Call 808-438-1518 for further information. Temporary lodging is provided by Tripler Lodging which offers 90 two-room suites with double beds, microwave and refrigerator.
